LEX STOUT
COMPOSER
MUSIC
BIO
Lex Stout is a composer for film and video games. He began not with piano lessons, nor classical training, but by writing rock and heavy metal in a humble bedroom, armed only with an electric guitar and a computer. Feeling limited by the genre he cut his teeth on, Stout soon began experimenting with orchestral music. Before long, he put himself through a rigorous self-education, which resulted in admittance to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.
At Berklee Lex learned the tools of his trade under the guidance of the great mentors and teachers of the faculty, expanding both his cinematic composing chops, and delving into contemporary concert music. Stout continued his educational journey by attending the elite Screen Scoring Master’s Program at the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, a program reserved for only for 20 students a year.
In the USC program, Stout showed great skill, creativity, and enthusiasm with his impulsive desire to push boundaries and to find new horizons to explore. All of this stems from the same youthful energy that pushed him to begin writing music nearly a decade earlier.
Stout currently resides in Los Angeles with his family, where he is currently working on a variety of film and video game projects.
